Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Customer Service skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to obtain current food handlers permit once employed

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products that they ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers.
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes.
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients.
  • Check product quality and review "sell by" dates.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, and steamers.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
  • Stay current with ads and promotions.
  • Gain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions.
  • Maintain inventory and stock conditions.
  • Ensure proper temperatures and maintain logs.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  • Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
  • Report customer or employee accidents.
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced environments.
  • Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
