Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities
  1. Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
  2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  4. Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
  5. Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to meet their needs.
  6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  7. Prepare foods following food safety and temperature logs, and cooking instructions.
  8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
  10. Check product quality, review 'sell by' dates, and take necessary actions.
  11. Ensure proper functioning and safety of kitchen equipment.
  12. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise accurately.
  13. Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the manager.
  14. Be familiar with the store layout to assist customers in locating products.
  15. Stay informed about current and upcoming promotions and advertisements.
  16. Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to answer questions and make suggestions.
  17. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  18. Ensure temperature controls in cases and coolers are maintained, with logs documented.
  19. Create a welcoming environment for customers and foster trust and respect among associates.
  20. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  21. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and report them.
  22. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
  23. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  24. Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  25. Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
  26. Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity.
  27. Follow instructions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
  28. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  29. Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
