Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to food safety and temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
  • Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take necessary actions.
  • Use kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robots safely and effectively.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the manager.
  • Understand store layout for product location and assist customers accordingly.
  • Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional ads.
  • Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers, and keep logs.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers and foster trust and respect among staff.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
  • Report customer or employee accidents promptly.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts calmly and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  • Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
