Mariano’s in Illinois, part of The Kroger Company, seeks a Bakery Associate to deliver outstanding customer service, prepare bakery items, and maintain a safe, clean environment. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales goals and uphold quality standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products; assist across the store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of department products and respond to questions and suggestions.
• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend bakery items to meet customers’ needs.
• Use all bakery equipment per guidelines.
• Prepare foods per temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude and stay aware of store layout and ads.
