Job summary

The Kroger Co. in Reno is hiring a Bakery Associate to create an outstanding customer experience through service and help maintain a clean, safe store environment. You will support the department manager in meeting sales and quality goals and help customers with product questions and orders.

You will handle bakery responsibilities, maintain equipment and stock, follow food safety rules, and participate in daily planning to ensure timely production and accurate labeling for customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bakery experience.
• Retail experience.
• Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
• Must be 18 or older.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions regarding bakery products.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of counter, cases and coolers on a continuous basis.
• Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
• Meet the day's production goals for baked goods.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work area.
• Assist with receiving and unloading of merchandise and supplies.
• Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Prepare special orders per customer requests.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using utensils and equipment.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products upon request.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Report safety risks or incidents to management.
