Job summary

Hy-Vee's Bakery Clerk role is based in our store bakery, delivering warm customer service while stocking, replenishing, and presenting fresh baked goods. You’ll greet customers, help them find items, and keep the bakery clean and organized throughout your shift.

This position requires strong teamwork, the ability to follow directions, basic math for transactions, and a flexible approach to a fast-paced bakery environment.

Qualifications

• Less than a high school diploma accepted or equivalent experience.
• Up to six months of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift
• Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking
• Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable
• Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
