Job Title: Bakery Clerk

Department: Bakery

Reports To: Bakery Manager

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with orders, suggesting products, and engaging with them effectively.
• Have thorough knowledge of bakery products, including prices, recipes, and uses.
• Weigh, wrap, and process customer orders accurately.
• Answer phone calls and take orders when necessary.
• Set up advertising displays and arrange merchandise to promote sales.
• Package, stock, display, and merchandise bakery goods according to company standards.
• Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, counters, display cases, and floors regularly.
• Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation system; label and date leftover products; utilize leftovers before opening new stock.

Customer Service Skills

The Bakery Clerk is expected to provide extraordinary customer service, following policies that emphasize respect, flexibility, and a positive attitude. They should treat others with respect, be adaptable, and aim to exceed guest expectations.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED; or 3-6 months of related experience.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, use hands frequently, and handle objects and tools. Occasionally, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling is required. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close and color vision.
