Responsibilities
The Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for:
- Preparing and packaging all baked goods
- Assisting the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising baked goods
- Providing high-level customer service and ensuring bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, presented, and the bakery area remains clean
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery environment, including cleaning shelves, products, floors, and equipment
- Stocking, filling, facing, and ensuring pricing accuracy; rotating products and discarding outdated items
- Receiving, inspecting, and logging shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality
Qualifications
To qualify as a Bakery Clerk, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and have 1-2 years of bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Be dependable, reliable, and able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Have an outgoing, friendly demeanor, positive attitude, and strong customer interaction skills
- Possess good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Be able to answer phones and handle special orders
- Perform general housekeeping and sanitation tasks
- Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, and hand trucks
- Stand for up to 8 hours, with the ability to lift trays up to 5 lbs., and transfer items weighing up to 40 lbs. over distances as specified
- Adhere to safety, health, and regulatory standards, including maintaining a Food Handlers permit
