Job summary

Balls Food Stores seeks a Bakery Clerk to join the team at Price Chopper. You will help create a welcoming bakery experience by packaging pastries, assisting guests, and ensuring displays are full, clean, and visually appealing.

In this role you will prepare and bake items per schedules, maintain sanitation standards, and operate POS systems while collaborating with teammates to deliver great guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
• Required: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Preferred: Experience in grocery, retail, or food service environments
• Preferred: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (certification a plus)
• Preferred: Experience with food preparation, baking, or kitchen equipment (ovens, fryers, slicers)

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly service and maintain department standards to support store operations
• Package, label, stock, and display bakery products while maintaining quality and freshness
• Prepare and bake items such as donuts, pastries, and cookies according to production schedules
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in alignment with sanitation and food safety guidelines
• Assist guests with product selection, allergen information, and special orders
• Stock, rotate, and merchandise products using FIFO methods to minimize waste
• Operate POS systems, scales, and related equipment accurately to support transactions
• Collaborate with teammates across departments to support store operations
• Follow company policies, safety standards, and trainings
• Remain productive during slower periods by cleaning, restocking, or supporting other areas

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Support exceptional guest hospitality by providing friendly service, maintaining product presentation and department standards, and completing daily tasks that contribute to efficient store operations and sales growth
• Deliver friendly, helpful, and respectful service to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat business
• Package, label, stock, and display bakery products while maintaining quality, freshness, and food safety standards
• Prepare and bake items such as but not limited to donuts, pastries, and cookies according to production schedules and standards
