Minimum requirements:
- Retail experience
- Bakery or cake decorating experience
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Basic math knowledge
- Effective communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Second language skills: speaking, reading, and/or writing
- Ability to create a welcoming environment for customers
- Knowledge of products and ability to make suggestions
- Offering product samples and preparing bakery items, including wedding cakes, per customer requests using proper equipment
- Recommending bakery items to customers
- Checking product quality, reviewing sell-by dates, and using bakery equipment appropriately
- Decorating cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items
- Labeling, stocking, signing, and inventory management
- Reporting discrepancies in product ordering/shipping
- Understanding store layout and current promotions
- Monitoring inventory and stock conditions
- Adhering to health, safety, and regulatory standards
- Following merchandising, customer service, labor, expense, loss prevention, safety, and food safety policies
- Practicing safety and preventive maintenance, inspecting equipment, and reporting issues
- Reporting safety risks, issues, or illegal activities, including theft or fraud
- Performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
