Job summary

Butter Pecan Bakeshop in Antioch, CA is hiring for a part-time bakery position. You will welcome customers, take orders, operate the POS, bake cookies, package orders, and help with kitchen tasks. Shifts start early and extend into evenings; approx 20 hours weekly with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Reliability and excellent attendance are required.
• Quick service food handling experience in hospitality or food/bev industry is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a customer service environment.
• Must follow cleaning and food handling/safety guidelines; masks and gloves required.
• Able to bake cookies accurately according to instructions.
• Integrity, positive attitude and initiative; able to work on a team or independently.
• Must be trustworthy; NDA may be required to protect recipes.
• Ability to work under pressure with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule; experience with POS a plus.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

Welcome customers with a smile and friendly attitude. Review the menu, make recommendations, and provide a superior customer experience. Utilize POS (point of sale) system to process transactions accurately and efficiently. Pack orders correctly and handle them with care. Perform customer service tasks as directed by Manager(s), Shift Lead(s) and/or Owners. Ensure all areas are clean, neat, and organized at all times. Prep, bake, and clean-up as needed.

• Bake cookies

• Ensure all food is prepared, handled and stored according to all required food safety code standards
• Assist in kitchen to support all baking activities
• Valid CA Food Handler's Certificate required upon hire

Requirements:

• RELIABILITY AND EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE ARE REQUIRED.
• Previous quick service food handling experience in either the hospitality or food and beverage industry required
• One year of experience in a customer service environment
• Must maintain and follow strict cleaning and food handling/safety guidelines. Mask and gloves are required at all times.
• Able to precisely and consistently bake cookies according to baking instructions.
• Has integrity, positive attitude & takes initiative.
• Is comfortable working on a team and independently.
• Must be trustworthy. Will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to protect recipes, etc.
• Has the ability to work well under pressure.
• Has excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently.
• Ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail and is meticulous.
• Previous experience using POS (point-of-sale) equipment is a plus
• Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule according to business needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead
• Operate commercial ovens, refrigerators, and freezers
• Able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds

Language Skills:

• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English

Work Schedule:

• Opening shifts start as early as 9am and closing shifts end as late 9:30pm weekdays and 10:30pm weekends
• Approximately 20 hours or more per week
• Must have flexibility; schedule may change

Job Types: Part-time

Pay: $17.50 per hour plus tips
