Job summary

Levain Bakery in Newport Beach is seeking an Assistant General Manager to collaborate with the General Manager on bakery operations, staff leadership, and financial wellbeing. The role requires problem-solving, communication, team building, and strong leadership skills.

The candidate should have 3–5 years in food service/retail with 1–2 years supervisory experience, and be able to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years in food service, QSR, or retail with 1–2 years supervisory experience.
• Adept knowledge of Toast POS system.
• Open availability: mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift/push 25–50 pounds.
• Stand/walk for an 8-hour shift; stairs may be required in some locations.
• Read and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Utilize basic computer skills (Email, Microsoft Office).
• Must have valid DOH Certification and regional food handler certifications.

Responsibilities

• Display effective leadership focusing on team dynamics, motivation, and conflict resolution.
• Model DEI principles and foster inclusive leadership in bakery operations.
• Facilitate open, clear verbal and written communication with team, customers, and management.
• Demonstrate strategies for resolving conflicts and handling difficult conversations.
• Manage team member performance through coaching and development opportunities.
• Lead customer service efforts and coach teams on handling inquiries and complaints.
• Ensure shifts run smoothly with tasks completed and DOH food safety standards met.
• Oversee cash reconciliations and payroll close; manage inventory accurately.
• Delegate restocking, cleaning, and organizational tasks to the team.
