Job summary

The Chico Hot Springs Bakery supports all Chico F&B outlets with daily breads, pastries, and wedding cakes. A small team, typically 2–3 Baker/Pastry staff, starts early and collaborates to cover restaurants and banquets.

We value reliability and experience; this role involves high-detail pastry work, strict portion control, and meeting presentation standards while maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment and a friendly team atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Experience as Baker and/or Pastry Chef.
• First Aid/CPR Certified.
• Knowledge of Aloha Systems.
• Ability to multi-task and work with high detail.
• Able to lift or carry 5 lbs. to 50 lbs.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Able to work irregular and long hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pastries and desserts daily following house recipes, portion control, and presentation standards.
• Participate in creation/implementation of menu specials.
• Handle daily opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and BOH areas; delegate tasks as needed.
• Provide excellent service to guests and team members.
• Attend monthly department huddles and provide input.
• Ensure safety, sanitation and food-safe handling standards.

Description

The Chico Hot Springs Bakery provides baked goods for all Chico F&B Outlets. This is a small department, with usually 2 or 3 Baker/Pastry employees, who work together to cover the daily needs of our restaurants and banquets. Typically our work day starts between 5 and 6am. Due to the small size of the department, we are looking for a very reliable person.

Experience is strongly preferred - the baker position is responsible for baking fresh bread daily, pastries for the morning dining room, as well as desert dishes for our fine dining restaurant. Our bakery also makes custom wedding cakes, pastries, and sweets for everything from corporate meetings to multi-hundred person weddings.

Essential Functions

• Is responsible for proper, timely preparation of pastries and deserts, following house recipes, portion control, and presentation standards.

• Is expected, on own initiative, to fill down time with productive side work.
• Is responsible for daily opening and closing procedures.
• Is responsible for following protocol for call-in and/or covering shifts.
• Is responsible for providing Great Service to guests and team members.
• Maintains the highest level of cleanliness in kitchen area and all BOH work areas. Delegates work to kitchen staff as needed to achieve this.
• Accepts direction from supervisors, works cooperatively with others, and helps maintain a professional and friendly work environment.
• Attends monthly department huddles, providing clear and constructive input for the staff.
• Is responsible for upholding guidelines for self and staff regarding dress code and personal hygiene.
• Ensures compliance with safety, sanitation and food-safe handling standards.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• First Aid/CPR Certified.
• Has core Customer Service skills and training.
• Has experience as Baker and/or Pastry Chef.
• Has knowledge Aloha Systems.
• Has knowledge of Chico Hot Springs history and property.
• Has ability to multi-task and work with high detail.
• Able to reach, bend, and stoop.
• Able to lift or carry 5 lbs. to 50 lbs.
• Able to work with full use of both hands.
• Able to work in heat over 80 degrees
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Able to work irregular and long hours as needed.
