Job summary

El Rio Grande Latin Market in Dallas, TX is seeking a bakery team member responsible for preparing, producing and baking a variety of scratch-made Hispanic and Latin pastries. The role requires experience with recipes and heavy emphasis on quality and speed.

You will operate ovens, mixers and other bakery equipment, assist customers, and support the department with daily tasks. A 2+ years baking background and bilingual English/Spanish preferred; lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience baking Hispanic/Latin pastries preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
• Able to read and interpret safety and operating instructions
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Prepare, produce and bake a variety of scratch-made Hispanic, South American, traditional breads and pastries.
• Use bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, dough rollers, etc.
• Safely use and operate all bakery equipment.
• Suggest bakery department products and services to customers.
• Operate equipment and machinery such as baler, forklift, etc. based on operational needs.
• Other duties common to the Bakery department may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare,produceand bake a variety of scratch made Hispanic, South American, Traditional breads and pastries (must have experience following recipes.
• Use bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, dough rollers, etc.
• Safely use andoperateall Bakery equipment.
• Suggest Bakery department products and services to customers.
• Operate equipment and machinery such asbaler, forklift, etc. based on operational needs.
• Other duties common to the Bakery department may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.
• Skills/Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in baking and producing Hispanic Bakery and pastry products preferred.
• High school diploma/GEDrequiredor equivalent work experience.
• College courseworkpreferred.
• Mustbe 18 years of age.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability towriteroutine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly preferred
• Work well with others in a team-oriented environment where one willingly takes onadditionaltasks with a positive attitude tohelp outthe team/department.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services - this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

• Physical Requirements:
• Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
• Fast paced, high volume, detail-oriented work environment
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Occasionally requires the ability to move, lift, carry,pullor push heavy objects or materials.
• Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Requires extensive use of hands.
• Reach above and below shoulder height, constant walking, standing in one place forlong periodsof time, bending, stooping, lifting, etc.
• Work in hot and cold environments.
• Follow company health and safety rules and wear protective equipment when and where applicable.
• Safely use food handling and sanitation chemicals and equipment tomaintaindepartment cleanliness standards and local, State and Federal agencies regulations and requirements.
