Job description

Otway Bakery in Clinton Hill is looking for both skilled pastry / viennoiserie & bread bakers for full and part-time positions. Early AM shifts and weekends are required.

Otway Bakery opened in March 2022 after the bread and pastry programs at Otway Restaurant outgrew their original location. We offer a rotating selection of pastries and breads made daily with a focus on locally sourced flours and grains, some of which are milled in-house.

Requirements for Success :

  • Great team dynamic and ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Passion for bread or viennoiserie, inquisitive mind, and an eye for quality
  • Strives for continuous improvement and eager to learn and grow
  • Works effectively as a team member with a positive attitude
  • Understanding of all aspects of the baking process: milling, fermentation, mixing, lamination, shaping, and baking
  • Works cleanly and efficiently
  • Ability to follow recipes and techniques
  • Familiarity with bakery equipment: mixers, proofer/retarders, ovens, benchtop mills, etc.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of applicable bakery experience

This is an excellent opportunity for self-motivated individuals to work with exceptional ingredients and be part of a dynamic team in an independently owned and operated high-volume bakery.

While performing their duties, bakers are regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
