Job summary

Silgan Plastics in Kentucky is seeking a Maintenance Department helper to assist with housekeeping around machines during downtime, take readings, run the blow molder, and support changeovers. You will help maintain a clean, safe working environment and follow established safety guidelines.

Ideal candidates are physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds, comfortable with fast-paced tasks, and eager to learn blow molding basics through the training program.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Willingness to be trained on blow mold basics and operator training course.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Responsibilities

• Maintain housekeeping around machines and down equipment.
• Take readings (bottle measurements) and run the blow molder and downstream components.
• Assist with changeovers and mold cleaning.
• Inspect for unsafe acts/conditions and report them.
• Complete related paperwork and communicate effectively.

Will safely assist the Maintenance department through housekeeping on and around machines that are down for planned maintenance.All related paperworkTaking readings (all bottle measurements)Running the blow molder and all downstream componentsCleaning moldsAssist with changeoversEvaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.Inspect work areas, and look for unsafe acts/conditions.Effectively use verbal and written communications.Maintain a clean and safe working environment.Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.EDUCATION:Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalentSKILLS:Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds continuously throughout the shift.Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):Willingness to be trained on the following before starting their duties:Blow mold basics 6 wk. Operator Training CourseSubject to a formal evaluation at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and additional periodic intervals by the Trainer, and Supervisor and decisions will be made accordingly.This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
