Job summary

Silgan Plastics is seeking a Maintenance Helper to assist the Maintenance department with housekeeping around machines during planned downtime. The role involves taking readings, running the blow molder and downstream components, and cleaning molds while supporting changeovers.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, with strong safety awareness and clear verbal/written communication. This on-site role requires physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance with housekeeping on and around machines during planned maintenance.
• Take readings and perform bottle measurements.
• Run the blow molder and all downstream components.
• Clean molds and assist with changeovers.
• Maintain a safe work environment according to established standards.
• Inspect work areas for unsafe acts/conditions.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.

• All related paperwork

• Taking readings (all bottle measurements)
• Running the blow molder and all downstream components
• Cleaning molds
• Assist with changeovers
• Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
• Inspect work areas, and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
• Effectively use verbal and written communications.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
• EDUCATION:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• SKILLS:

• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
• Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.
• SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):
• Willingness to be trained on the following before starting their duties:
• Blow mold basics 6 wk. Operator Training Course
• Subject to a formal evaluation at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and additional periodic intervals by the Trainer, and Supervisor and decisions will be made accordingly.
• This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Mechanical Aptitude a plus.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
• All other duties assigned.
• Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
• Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
• Effectively use verbal and written communications.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
