Job summary

Dunn Construction is seeking an experienced Backhoe Operator to support asphalt paving projects. The role focuses on operating backhoes, preparing sites, and performing pre-operational checks to ensure safety and efficiency on site.

You will work with foremen and other operators, maintain equipment, and strictly follow PPE and safety protocols in varied weather and outdoor conditions. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Operate backhoe equipment to excavate, load, and grade materials for asphalt paving projects.
• Assist with digging trenches, removing debris, and preparing the site for asphalt installation.
• Perform pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with foremen and other equipment operators to complete projects according to project plans and timelines.
• Safely maneuver equipment around active construction sites, ensuring the safety of crew members and surrounding structures.
• Inspect and maintain equipment regularly, reporting issues to the maintenance team as necessary.
• Follow all safety guidelines and PPE usage and site safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around equipment and site.
• Assist with other construction duties as needed (shoveling, raking, spreading materials).
