City of Atlanta is seeking a Backflow Inspector to protect potable and non-potable water systems by inspecting backflow assemblies, coordinating with customers and contractors, and maintaining accurate digital records of all devices using SwiftComply.

The role requires field inspections, documentation, and collaboration with plan review teams to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Valid GA driver’s license and backflow knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in water distribution and backflow prevention.
• Valid Georgia driver's license.
• Completion of GA Water Distribution Certification within one year if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate virtual, phone, and on-site meetings with customers, contractors, and developers to ensure proper backflow device installation.
• Attend pre-construction meetings with plan review teams for correct backflow prevention on plans.
• Maintain and update digital records of backflow devices using SwiftComply.
• Visually inspect and record new backflow devices on commercial and residential properties.
• Annotate and report violations with installation instructions for customer communication.
• Troubleshoot and respond to backflow complaints from customers.
• Verify changes with field inspections and confirmations.
• Produce water availability letters using GIS & plat cards for upcoming projects.
