Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform Backflow Prevention program duties within our state-of-the-art facilities. The role focuses on preventing contaminants from entering potable water through cross-connections and ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

The position emphasizes preventive maintenance, safety, and efficient problem solving. It requires a valid driver’s license, basic plumbing knowledge, and the ability to obtain a backflow license

Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
• Ability to obtain backflow license within 180 days.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with continued development of the Backflow Prevention Cross-Connection Program.
• Inspect sites for illegal water connections and eliminate through proper devices.
• Eliminate uncontrolled interconnections to potable water supply/system.
• Educate the public about backflow prevention devices and connections.
• Maintain records and drawings related to the program.
• Test and repair backflow preventors per industry standards and state laws.
• Follow backflow testing schedule as required by state laws.
• Install backflows per state and AWWA regulations and standards.
• Prioritize improvements to accounts with improper devices and upgrade waterlines.
• Keep detailed records of Backflow Devices.
• Respond to sewer cleanout and lift station calls during duty hours and on-call.
