Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is hiring a Backflow Inspector to perform building backflow inspections, tests, and reporting across Nevada. You will assist the Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager with data collection, generate Backflow Reports, and ensure accurate documentation.

The role requires 1–3 years of backflow inspection experience, familiarity with NFPA standards, and active or obtainable AWWA-NV/NV certifications. Proficiency with Palm handheld devices and Microsoft Office is expected.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred; HS diploma or equivalent acceptable with experience.
  • Must possess and maintain AWWA-NV Water Use Efficiency Practitioner certification on hire.
  • 1–3 years of backflow inspection experience in fire and life safety.
  • Study NFPA standards for inspection/testing of fire protection systems.
  • Stay current with code requirements and obtain NICET certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform building backflow inspections, testing devices, recording results, and generating reports.
  • Assist Lead Inspector/Inspection Manager with data collection and paperwork (Backflow Reports, Quick Reports, Inspection Certificates).
  • Download inspection data and generate Backflow Inspection Reports upon completion.
  • Attend monthly team meetings and assist management as needed.

This position is responsible for performing building backflow inspections including testing devices, recording and generating results, and providing reports. Duties include assisting both the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in collecting data and generating any necessary paperwork (Backflow Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly.
  • Testing of all building backflow control panels, devices, and functions of the system and entering the test results into the Palm handheld device.
  • Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Backflow Inspection Report.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualifications
  • College Degree is preferred; however, a High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid AWWA- NV Water Use Efficiency Practitioner certification upon hire.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a Backflow Inspector.
  • Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems.
  • Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices.
  • Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and use of Palm unit operating systems.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the office or job site.
Other Duties
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
