Job summary

The City of Abilene, Texas is seeking a Cross-Connection Control Inspector to perform inspections, compliance reviews, and administrative duties for cross-connection and customer service inspection programs. Qualifications include four years in cross-connection control or related fields, a high school diploma or GED, and licenses (CSI/BPAT) or the ability to obtain them.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in cross-connection control or related fields preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in relevant fields preferred.
• Possession of or ability to obtain TCEQ CSI, BPAT licenses within specified timeframes; class C Water Distribution preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform customer service inspections and cross-connection surveys for various service connections.
• Identify and document cross-connections, hazards, and backflow conditions; determine required backflow prevention method.
• Maintain electronic inventory of regulated facilities, test statuses, and follow-up actions.
• Review inspection certificates and test reports for completeness, accuracy, and credentials.
• Issue notices; track deadlines; schedule follow-ups; coordinate enforcement actions as needed.
• Educate property owners and City staff on cross-connection hazards and testing requirements.
• Operate City vehicle and document findings with photographs and records.
