CGI Federal is seeking a Backend Web Developer to design, build, and maintain secure backend systems for web applications in a federal environment. You will manage CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and multiple platforms including WordPress and TeamSite/Open Deploy.

The role requires strong programming skills in Java, Python, or PHP, and proven experience with MySQL, RESTful APIs, and cloud services. A hybrid work model is available with offices in several states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years in backend web development with secure solutions.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, PHP, or similar languages.
• MySQL experience for data integrity and security.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Able to administer Atlassian Confluence/JIRA, GitLab, HP/Autonomy TeamSite (OpenText), OpenDeploy, and WordPress.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD processes and container implementation.

As a Backend Web Developer at CGI Federal, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems for web applications that support a federal law enforcement agency's classified environment. This position requires strong technical expertise in backend development, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high performance applications.
This position is located in our Lafayette, LA, Lebanon, VA or Knoxville, TN office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for web applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and high performing.
• Administer and manage the Atlassian platform, including Confluence, JIRA, and associated plug ins.
• Administer the daily operation of a scalable GitLab and GitLab CI platform, working with development teams on CI/CD processes and container implementation.
• Administer and perform routine operations within HP/Autonomy TeamSite and Open Deploy platforms.
• Administer the WordPress platform and support legacy applications, including Python, PHP, or Java web applications.
• Manage and maintain MySQL databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Develop APIs and services to support front end functionality and third party integrations.
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure solutions align with federal standards and mission requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Ability to administer Atlassian Confluence/JIRA, GitLab, HP/Autonomy TeamSite (OpenText), Open Deploy, and WordPress platforms.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD processes and container implementation.
• Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
• Experience in federal government.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience in supporting DevOps / Agile platforms such as Confluence, Jira and Gitlab
• Experience in support Content Management platforms such as TeamSite/OpenText and WordPress
• Experience in supporting legacy applications including application containerization, application deployments, cloud migrations, updates to resolve security vulnerabilities, and maintaining content libraries.
• Additional certifications in Agile or cloud technologies.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $63,700.00 $156,700.00.
