Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Software Engineer for the Securities Finance team to build and operate the backend systems behind our lending and borrowing products. You will work on high-scale infrastructure powering FPSL and short borrowing, with emphasis on reliability, performance, and security.

You will own end-to-end features, collaborate across teams, and continually improve distributed systems fundamentals while supporting production operations and incident response.

Qualifications

• Solid fundamentals in computers, networks, databases, and distributed systems; understanding failure modes.
• 3+ years building distributed systems that run in production.
• Proficiency in Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to design a good RESTful API and assess others' APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own projects from initial discussions through to production deployment.
• Build and scale backend systems supporting lending and borrowing products.
• Develop APIs and batch pipelines for reliable nightly processing.
• Improve existing systems to boost reliability and performance.
• Participate in on-call rotations to address issues and root causes.
