Job summary

Cisco is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join the Webex Signaling team in Seattle. You will build and operate cloud-native microservices, focusing on reliability, scalability, and secure delivery of Webex workloads.

You will work with AI-assisted development tools, contribute to design and implementation, and ensure quality through the full software lifecycle in a globally distributed team. This role may involve government-related considerations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of professional software development experience with Java.
2+ years of experience with Spring and Spring Boot.
2+ years of backend software engineering experience.
2+ years experience participating in the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
1+ years experience in leveraging AI tools to increase productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Build and contribute to technical designs and implementation in a development team that practices continuous integration and continuous delivery.
Develop cloud-native microservices deployed on Kubernetes and similar platforms.
Make DevOps a primary concern by ensuring services are reliable, scalable, secure, manageable, and supportable.
Enhance Webex telemetry systems to enable analytics, observability, and continuous improvement.
Use Cisco-approved AI-assisted software engineering tools and agents throughout the software development lifecycle—from requirements analysis and design through implementation, testing, code review, documentation, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
Apply human judgment when using AI-generated content by validating code, designs, tests, documentation, and recommendations for correctness, security, privacy, performance, maintainability, and licensing or intellectual-property considerations.
Serve as a gatekeeper for high-quality code, designs, architecture, and practical approaches to scale.
Create alignment across product teams, architectural decisions, and implementation.
Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
