Job summary

Maximus hires a Backend Software Developer to support USAF mission work, focusing on back-end design and development, RESTful APIs, database management, and data modeling. This remote role requires an active TS/SCI clearance and the ability to travel 10–20% as needed.

The position is with Maximus TCS (Technology and Consulting Services) and involves cloud deployments, system integrations, and testing across modern toolchains such as Jenkins, GitLab, AWS, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 7 years of overall experience in the functional area.
• 7 years of software development experience in object-oriented and scripted languages with DevSecOps, microservices, and containers tool suites.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing, conducting, and documenting various systems tests.
• 3 years of experience with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira) and testing web-based applications.
• 3 years of experience participating in software development programs or projects.
• Practical experience developing in a cloud environment.
• Experience with integrating data from unclassified to classified application deployments.
• 5 years of experience with Jenkins and GitLab.
• 5 years of experience with at least five (5) of the following: NPM, Cypress.io, esbuild, Bun, Apache Tomcat, Maven, SonarQube.
• 3 years of recent back-end web design and development experience.
• Demonstrated experience with relational databases, RESTful API development/communication, and system integrations.
• 3 years of experience with AWS Infrastructure, Kubernetes, and RedHat Linux.
• DCWF Code: 632 Intermediate.
• Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a CI Poly required.
• Role may require travel to a site 10-20% of the time.

Job description

The Software Developer (Backend) provides subject matter proficiency for our USAF mission. This role is responsible for providing analytical skills to support process improvement, specialized studies, and definition of requirements. Shall perform engineering tasks for back-end design and development efforts including, but not limited to, developing back-end architectures to support current and new system capabilities and integrations, RESTful API development and modification, database management, and data model development and optimization.

This role is contingent upon award.

This is a remote position and requires a TS/SCI clearance.
