CBTS in New York City is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to build scalable, secure backend services and APIs in Python. You will work on data-driven solutions powering mission-critical systems handling AI, electronic health records and sensitive medical data for life insurance access.

Ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Python backends, API design tools like Swagger/OpenAPI and FastAPI, plus cloud, Kubernetes, Docker and SQL ORM stacks.

• Backend software development experience with Python.
• Experience with API design tools including Swagger, OpenAPI and FastAPI.
• Proficiency in cloud, orchestration (Kubernetes), Docker, relational DBs and ORM (SQLAlchemy).

Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in Python and modern backend frameworks. You will build scalable, secure and high-performance APIs and services that power data-driven solutions. The role supports mission-critical systems that use artificial intelligence, electronic health records and other complex, sensitive medical data to make it easier for people to obtain essential life insurance coverage.

Required skills:

• Degree or equivalent background in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics or a related discipline.
• Professional experience developing backend software with Python.
• Experience with API design tools and frameworks such as Swagger, OpenAPI and FastAPI.
• Other tech skills: Cloud computing and K8s or similar orchestration tools; Docker; relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and ORM libraries such as SQLAlchemy; and load testing, latency profiling and backend performance optimization.
