Job summary

Revel IT is seeking a Backend Java Developer for a 12+ month contract on-site in New Albany, OH, with a hybrid work arrangement. You will design, build, and support scalable backend services for enterprise applications.

The role requires 3-5 years of backend Java experience, Kafka, Spring WebFlux, GraphQL, Spring Boot, and Docker/Kubernetes; you will implement GraphQL APIs, reactive systems, and CI pipelines.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of backend development experience with Java, Kafka, Spring WebFlux and GraphQL.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Strong understanding of reactive programming and its application in Spring WebFlux.
• Proven experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with Spring Boot 2.7+ and Spring Security 5.x preferred.
• Familiarity with OAuth and JWT a plus.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot with Spring Security.

Backend Java Developer (Contract, 12+ Months) — Hybrid in New Albany, OH

We have an immediate need for a Backend Java Developer to join a direct client engagement, on-site in New Albany, Ohio, for a 12+ month contract. We're looking for someone with 3-5 years of backend development experience and strong hands-on expertise in Java, Kafka, Spring WebFlux, and GraphQL, who's ready to design, build, and support scalable backend services for enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot, incorporating Spring Security best practices
• Design and implement GraphQL APIs for flexible, efficient data retrieval and manipulation
• Apply reactive programming with Spring WebFlux to build non-blocking, resilient applications
• Manage Kafka-based event-driven architecture, including topic configuration, event streaming, and Spring Boot integration
• Build custom Kafka producers and consumers for reliable message processing
• Support Kafka implementations using Confluent Cloud where applicable
• Implement data management solutions using MyBatis, JDBC, and SQL
• Deploy and maintain applications on Tomcat
• Support container orchestration and scaling with Docker and Kubernetes
• Follow test-driven development (TDD) practices
• Build CI pipelines using GitLab CI, with deployment support via Helm
