Open Systems Technologies is seeking a Backend Founding Engineer to join a fast-growing startup in New York City. The role requires 4 days onsite in NYC and a track record of startup experience.

Compensation is $180-230k plus equity, with a strong emphasis on independent ownership and hands-on backend development. The candidate will design databases and APIs, implement features, and provide reliable estimates while communicating progress and risks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Node.js experience.
• 2+ years with Express.js.
• APIs development with 5+ years, fintech focus 1+.
• PostgreSQL database experience 2+.
• Architectural design experience 2+.
• Fintech web applications 1+ years.
• Early-stage startup experience essential.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication.
• Bold, proactive problem solving and time management.

A start up is looking for a Backend Founding Engineer to join their team.

Location: NYC; Must be able to work in NYC 4 days onsite per week

Compensation: $180-230k + Equity

Must have worked at early stage start-ups!

Responsibilities:

• Independently communicate with Customer Support to investigate and resolve customer-reported issues
• Design database schemas and APIs for small-to-medium scoped features
• Implement features following internal engineering principles and guidelines
• Provide estimates for their own work and communicate progress and risks proactively to the team

Deep experience with and understanding of:

• Express.js framework (2+ years)
• APIs (5+ years)/Building fintech backend APIs (1+ years)
• Databases (PostGreSQL) (2+ years)
• Architecture (2+ years)
