Job summary

Reliance Health is actively seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that power our core products. The role requires collaboration with product, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver reliable, scalable systems.

You will implement TypeScript/Node.js/Express solutions, work with MySQL via Sequelize, and participate in architecture discussions. A strong focus on performance, security, and test automation will define success in this role.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
• Solid understanding of REST API design principles and best practices.
• Proficiency with MySQL and ORM frameworks (preferably Sequelize).
• Experience with asynchronous programming, error handling, and performance optimization in Node.js.
• Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, or Nomad).
• Experience with Git-based workflows (GitHub, GitLab, or similar).
• Nice to Have: Familiarity with PHP/Laravel for interaction with legacy platform.
• Nice to Have: Understanding of security best practices for backend services.
• Nice to Have: Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Cypress).
• Nice to Have: Exposure to distributed or microservices-based architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
• Implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions using MySQL and Sequelize ORM.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define scope, and deliver solutions.
• Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in collaboration with DevOps and support teams.
• Ensure high code quality through automated testing, peer reviews, and CI/CD best practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation for APIs, services, and data models.
• Participate in architectural discussions and propose improvements.
