Job summary

AI Squared is seeking a seasoned Backend Engineer (SDE–2) to join our distributed team. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power our products, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver a reliable user experience.

You will own backend architecture, implement secure APIs, ensure performance, and participate in code reviews within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development experience with a modern tech stack.
• Strong API design, database management, and cloud infrastructure skills.
• Proactive communication to align goals and requirements before starting projects.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and quick concept grasp.
• Familiar with testing, CI/CD pipelines, and version control tools.
• Excellent collaboration in a distributed team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services with focus on performance, security, and scalability.
• Proactively communicate with team members to align on goals, requirements, and challenges.
• Build reusable, maintainable code and optimize backend systems for performance.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure backend aligns with product needs.
• Review requirements with product designers and managers to clarify ambiguities and support product vision.
• Take ownership of backend architecture and drive improvements for scalability and reliability.
• Break down complex tasks into milestones and ensure timely delivery while upholding standards.
• Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews to maintain quality.
• Continuously monitor and improve system performance and address bottlenecks.
