Job summary

WHOOP in Boston is seeking a backend engineer to help build scalable services for acquisition funnels, e-commerce experiences, and membership growth experiments. You will work with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver reliable backend systems using Java, Kafka, Postgres, and AWS.

You will break down requirements, prioritize tasks, and participate in architecture discussions to ensure high availability and solid performance for millions of users.

Qualifications

• Proficient backend development with Java, APIs, and cloud (AWS).
• Experience designing scalable APIs and working with relational databases.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineers to build scalable backend services.
• Build, maintain, and optimize APIs and infra supporting funnels and membership growth.
• Write well-tested, maintainable code using Java, Kafka, Postgres, and AWS.
• Break down features, prioritize work, and deliver per sprint commitments.
• Contribute to backend architecture for high-availability services touching millions of users.
• Collaborate with data scientists to support experimentation and measure performance.
• Participate in code reviews and adopt engineering best practices.
