Job summary

Jobgether is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and deliver production-grade backend features. You’ll build services with Ruby on Rails, Go, or other modern languages, develop APIs and background jobs, and optimize data models for performance.

You’ll contribute to testing strategies, participate in reviews, and support deployments in a distributed, remote team. A strong focus on security, reliability, and collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering production-grade backend applications and services.
• Strong fundamentals: programming, API development, databases, automated testing, debugging, and performance.
• Experience with Ruby/Rails, Go, or another modern backend language.
• Ability to independently manage features through lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Understanding of backend architecture, modular design, and service boundaries.
• Knowledge of security, reliability, performance optimization, and operational risk.
• Maintainable code with Git workflows, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Strong written communication and ability to collaborate in a remote, asynchronous, global environment.
• Independent work style with sound technical judgment and willingness to seek guidance.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and reviewing AI-generated code.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deliver backend features end-to-end.
• Build and maintain backend apps and services using Ruby on Rails, Go, or other languages.
• Develop APIs, background jobs, integrations, and modular components.
• Design and optimize data models, migrations, indexes, and queries.
• Write secure, scalable, observable code with high performance and reliability.
• Implement automated testing strategies (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end).
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot build, test, deployment, and production issues.
• Identify technical debt and propose improvements to backend systems.
• Participate in on-call rotations and operational support activities.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, Infrastructure, and Security teams.
• Use AI-powered development tools and validate generated code.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and knowledge sharing.
