Spotify is seeking a Backend Engineer to join a team within the Personalization organization. You will help build foundational backend infrastructure powering recommendations for millions of listeners worldwide.

The role focuses on scalable, reliable services and platform capabilities for content and user representations. You will collaborate with cross-team engineers to design and improve systems that enable efficient retrieval, ranking, and filtering of personalized content, while maintaining

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, or large-scale service architectures.
• Ability to design reliable, scalable services with attention to latency and throughput.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and evolve backend systems that power personalization and recommendations at Spotify scale.
• Develop infrastructure for efficient retrieval, ranking, and filtering of personalized content.
• Create platform capabilities for candidate generation and representations of content and users.
• Design reliable, scalable services capable of handling high-volume recommendation workloads.
• Collaborate with engineers across Spotify to deliver reusable platform solutions.
• Improve reliability, observability, and operational performance of owned systems.
• Participate in technical design discussions and influence architectural decisions.
