Job summary

Spotify AB is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for the Personalization team, focusing on the Home feed and moments-based experiences. You will shape personalized discovery at global scale, taking models from research to production and driving technical direction in ambiguous spaces.

You will design and deploy recommender systems, work with large language models, and optimize ML infrastructure to deliver high-quality user experiences, with a focus on latency, reliability, and cost

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production environments.
• Deep expertise in recommendation systems, ranking models, personalization, or large-scale content discovery platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience building machine learning systems with PyTorch.
• Experience with large language model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and optimization techniques including SFT, distillation, and LoRA.
• Experience operating distributed ML workloads and building production data pipelines and orchestration workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve ML models and systems powering the Home feed and Shortcuts experience.
• Design, build, and ship personalized recommendations for millions of Spotify listeners.
• Develop content recommendation systems for emergent agentic and AI-powered experiences.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize large language models using SFT, distillation, and parameter-efficient training.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, and design to define experimentation strategies.
