Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Backend Engineer to shape how millions of listeners experience music videos, working with data engineers, backend engineers, and product/design partners.

You will build and run production backend systems, design scalable services, and maintain Java-based pipelines on Google Cloud Platform, collaborating across cross-functional squads to deliver high-quality, reliable experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java or another JVM language.
• Familiarity with data pipeline tools like Scio, Apache Beam, or similar.
• Strong understanding of system design and algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Build and run production backend systems to improve listener discovery and experience for music videos.
• Design, develop, and evolve scalable backend services and APIs for high-traffic parts of the app.
• Develop and maintain Java services and Scio data pipelines used by millions of listeners daily.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to turn user needs into scalable backend systems and pipelines.
• Contribute to system design, code quality, and reliable, well-run systems within an autonomous squad.
• Explore and experiment with AI tools to improve how we build and ship.
