Job summary

Spotify is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and evolve production systems that generate personalized podcast episodes at scale. You will own durable data flows, observable operations, and reliable APIs, while mentoring teammates and collaborating across product and design teams.

You will help mature MVP-driven experiments into production-ready platforms, shaping agentic workflows and ensuring high-quality, maintainable systems for creators and listeners worldwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems: asynchronous processing, queues, APIs, observability.
• Hands-on or strong interest in LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and evolution of backend services that generate and scale personalized podcast episodes.
• Transform MVPs into reliable production systems with clean APIs and durable data flows.
• Set quality standards for AI-generated content systems and agentic workflows.
• Build and improve creator merchandising features (chapters, transcripts, previews, clips, etc.).
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to align requirements.
• Mentor engineers to improve technical design discussions and operational practices.
