Job summary

Binance is seeking a Backend Engineer intern for the Pay & Card team to help design, build, test, and maintain backend services powering Binance Pay and Card products. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure payment infrastructure and scalable APIs for processing transactions.

The role emphasizes hands-on experience with high-throughput systems, databases, queues, and distributed architectures, while offering learning opportunities in payments and fintech innovation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, OOP, and CS fundamentals.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, C++, Python.
• Understanding of relational databases, SQL, indices, transactions, and DB design.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, HTTP, networking and client-server architectures.
• Ability to write clear, maintainable code and reason about problems.
• Strong communication and willingness to learn in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services powering Binance Pay and Card products.
• Build scalable APIs and microservices for payment processing and merchant services.
• Participate in distributed systems for high-volume, low-latency transactions.
• Work with databases, caching, queues, and infrastructure to improve performance.
• Implement robust transaction workflows with retries, idempotency, concurrency, and failure handling.
• Assist with production troubleshooting via logs, metrics, traces, and root-cause analysis.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to improvements in reliability, observability, and security.
