Job summary

OnePay is seeking a Backend Engineer to shape the infrastructure behind our co-branded credit card product. You will design backend services and APIs, ensuring security and reliability for real-time credit transactions, while coordinating with risk and compliance teams.

You will collaborate across platform teams, own system reliability, and drive architectural decisions. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, mentoring, and delivering scalable fintech solutions in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend or distributed systems experience.
• Experience building and operating production-grade APIs and microservices (fintech/payments/banking).
• Proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript/NestJS or Go/Java.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architecture (Kubernetes, AWS) and event-driven systems.
• Strong knowledge of data security, PCI compliance, or similar standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services powering the co-branded credit card product and integrations.
• Architect APIs and event-driven systems handling sensitive financial data securely at scale.
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, and platform teams to meet regulatory requirements.
• Own reliability and performance for systems processing real-time credit transactions.
• Drive design decisions balancing scalability, security, and delivery speed.
• Mentor engineers and improve code quality, testing, and operations.
