Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to own key projects end-to-end and drive stablecoin-based money movement features from design through production deployment.

You will build backend systems and APIs, partner with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs, and push for performance and reliability in distributed environments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems.
• Proficiency in backend languages (Go, Java) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
• Track record as DRI for technical projects, delivering end-to-end from design to production.
• Experience with blockchain or crypto technologies (stablecoins, on-chain payments, smart contracts).
• Ability to write technical design documents and communicate architecture trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Own key projects end-to-end as the Directly Responsible Individual.
• Build backend systems, infrastructure, and APIs for payments and transfers.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Infra, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Drive performance, scalability, and reliability improvements across distributed systems.
• Contribute to engineering quality through code reviews and architectural patterns.
