NatWest Boxed is seeking a Back End Engineer to join a high-performing team in the United Kingdom. You will develop and maintain backend services with Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native patterns, while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

You’ll work with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and data platforms like Kafka and PostgreSQL to drive impactful outcomes. The role offers a bishopsgate hub presence and a predominantly remote workstyle with monthly in-person

Qualifications

• Strong background in software engineering and database design.
• Proven experience with Java and Spring Boot or Micronaut.
• Experience with AWS and containerized deployments (Kubernetes/Docker).
• Knowledge of Kafka/event sourcing and secure architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain backend services for NatWest Boxed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide product direction and customer-centric decisions.
• Uphold coding standards, review code, and mentor junior engineers as needed.
• Contribute to scalable, data-driven solutions and ensure security best practices.
