Job summary

Autopilot, a leading fintech trading app, is hiring a Backend Engineer, Infrastructure in New York, NY. This on-site role focuses on building scalable cloud infrastructure and robust backend systems to support fast growth and reliable deployments.

The ideal candidate has 2-5 years in backend engineering, strong TypeScript skills, and experience with cloud platforms and distributed systems. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Qualifications

Role Overview:

We're seeking a Backend Engineer, Infrastructure to join our talented team as an early engineer. In this role, you'll work closely with our founders and cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence, build and operate scalable infrastructure, and contribute directly to shaping the future of investing. This is a hands-on, highly impactful role in a fast-paced, engineering- and product-focused company.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust cloud infrastructure and backend systems that power our trading platform.

• Improve deployment pipelines, developer tooling, and observability to help our engineering team ship reliably.

• Build resilient distributed systems, strengthen database performance, and improve incident response and recovery as we scale.

• Collaborate with backend engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.

• Drive impact in a hands-on capacity, directly contributing to a rapidly growing and innovative company.

Qualifications

2-5 years of professional experience as a backend engineer, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Proficiency in TypeScript for backend development (open to other languages).

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud infrastructure.

• Expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and production reliability.

• Proven track record of building and scaling backend systems to support rapid growth.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Previous experience as a software engineer for trading, investing, or fintech platforms.

• Previous experience working in hyper-growth start up.

• Experience with integrations involving platforms like Robinhood, Stripe, Plaid, or similar platforms/apps.

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or other cloud infrastructure.

• Passion for building user-centered solutions and delivering impact.

• A self-starter mentality with strong ownership and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with some of these backend tech stacks: node.js, typescript, graphql, nest.js, gcp, google pubsub, postgres sql, etc.
