Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Software Engineer, Agent Auth to build identity and access systems for agents and users. This hybrid role is based in San Francisco, focusing on secure, scalable authentication and developer-friendly APIs.

You will own end-to-end security features, work with OAuth/OIDC, and collaborate across product, security, and platform teams to raise reliability and trust in an agent-driven world.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing, building, and operating backend systems at scale.
• Strong TypeScript proficiency; prefer TS over JS.
• Deep knowledge of authentication/authorization: sessions, tokens, OAuth/OIDC, secrets management.
• Ownership from design to run; ability to reason about architectural tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate identity, authentication, and authorization systems for products.
• Shape how agents prove identity and receive scoped access.
• Build secure, scalable APIs and SDKs for developers and agents.
• Work with OAuth 2.x, OIDC, and agent-focused protocols; influence standards.
• Lead projects end-to-end and partner with product/security/platform teams.
