Job summary

Spade is seeking a Backend Engineer in New York City to own APIs and data systems powering our enrichment platform. You will work across the full backend stack, delivering scalable, low-latency APIs and data services that support our data science team.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of backend Python experience, expertise with REST APIs and SQL, and hands-on AWS work. This is a hybrid role with office days in NYC's Flatiron area.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building and scaling backend Python-based systems.
• Proven ability to develop REST APIs and write performant SQL.
• Experience building on AWS infrastructure.
• Experience building systems from scratch and operating autonomously in early-stage environments.
• Customer-focused mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative mindset with willingness to be mentored and grow.
• Based in NYC with ability to work from the Flatiron office at least 2 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Own the APIs and data systems at the heart of the enrichment platform.
• Develop and maintain low-latency, scalable developer-facing APIs and data platform.
• Design and implement systems that support product and company growth.
• Debug production issues across the stack.
