Momento USA is seeking a seasoned Java Backend Engineer in Phoenix, AZ to join a fast-evolving set of applications serving millions of customers.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 9+ years of Java backend (J2EE) experience
• 5+ years of reactive programming (Spring WebFlux, Vert.x, RxJava)
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, SOA and microservices
• Experience with distributed systems, containers, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience with stream processing (Kafka/Solace) and databases like MongoDB or PostgreSQL
• Familiar with security concepts (SSL, cryptography)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Interest in new technologies and fast shipping of quality software

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior member of an agile development team that drives user story analysis and elaboration.
• Design and develop software solutions, think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems.
• Foster the spirit of collaboration across multiple internal teams.
• Participate in solution architecture, code reviews, ad-hoc pair programming; contribute to iterative improvement of tools, automation and practices used by team.
• Mentor and lead team members.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI models and experience using Gen AI tools such as Copilot, Claude Code and Codex
• Proven expertise in REST API design and implementation.
• Proven expertise in with SOA, Micro-Services, Containers.
• Experience with Stream processing/Queue - Solace, Kafka.
• Experience with Databases MongoDB (Or a different Document DB/ NoSQL), PostgreSQL.
• Familiar with tools - Git, Jenkins, IntelliJ IDEA, Jira, Confluence.
• Familiarity with security principles, SSL, Cryptography.
• 9+ years of experience with Java backend (J2EE). Nice to have Kotlin experience
• 5+ Years Reactive Programing (asynchronous programming paradigm) ideally with Spring boot WebFlux, Vert.x and RxJava
• Experienced building on at-least one of cloud platforms - Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azureand Google Cloud Platform
• A BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience
• Experience building and supporting distributed highly available systems.
• Good communication skills.
• High energy and 'can-do' attitude.
• Interest in new technologies and tools, industry best practices.
• Passion for shipping quality software fast and frequently.
• Attention to detail.
