WRITER is seeking an exceptional software engineer to join our rapidly evolving team. You’ll help build the next generation of AI-powered enterprise platforms, delivering secure backends, scalable integrations, and reliable agent workflows in a hybrid setup based in San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong experience designing and shipping API-driven platform services and distributed systems.
• Practical expertise building AI integration layers (tool orchestration, external API connectors, auth mediation).
• Deep knowledge of authentication and security patterns for third-party integrations (OAuth2/OIDC, API keys, token lifecycle).
• Proven cloud-native experience with containerized workloads and CI/CD in AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Experience with observability, SLOs/SLAs, incident response and performance tuning.
• Solid backend fundamentals in modern server frameworks and data systems (TypeScript/Node or Python).
• Ability to lead through ambiguity and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure, scalable AI integration platforms powering enterprise automation.
• Define how AI applications securely connect to external tools and data sources.
• Own backend service design for high-throughput APIs enabling complex cross-system workflows.
• Set technical direction for identity, auth, and trust across integrations.
• Partner with product and engineering leaders to shape roadmap and strategy.
• Lead production excellence with metrics, SLOs/SLAs, observability, and resilience.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and drive technical delivery from design to production.
