Job summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a Backcountry and Noncommercial River Permits Program Manager for the National Park Service, within the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection.

The role oversees backcountry overnight and Non-commercial River permitting, coordinating remote and cooperating offices, and representing the park with federal and regional bodies. You will lead a team, enforce safety and equal opportunity, coordinate work across units, and communicate permit policies

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a background investigation.
• Selective Service registration for males born after 12-31-1959 is required.
• Direct Deposit participation is required.
• Successful completion of E-Verify employment verification is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Uniform and uniform standards apply; a uniform allowance is provided.
• You may be required to obtain and maintain a government travel card for purchases.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and directs staff in backcountry and noncommercial river permit operations; ensures safety and equal opportunity.
• Coordinates remote permitting offices within the park and cooperating offices outside the park.
• Plans work, sets priorities, schedules tasks, and assigns work based on priorities.
• Provides public orientation of backcountry regulations and park policies; writes communications to promote cooperation with local constituencies.
• Serves as a Park representative with Intermountain and Washington coordinators and other organizations.
