Job summary

Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette in Salem is seeking a part-time, on-site Medical Assistant to support the clinical team during visits. You’ll room patients, take vital signs, assist with exams, and help ensure a respectful, efficient patient experience.

Key responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, assisting with labs, answering patient questions, and collaborating with providers to keep the clinic running smoothly. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in a customer service or high-volume environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patients and coworkers.
• Comfort working independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Job description

In this role, you’ll be part of the clinical team supporting patients through their visit and helping create a safe, respectful, and efficient experience.

On a typical day, you might:

• Room patients, take vital signs, and prepare them for their visit
• Support providers during exams and procedures
• Assist with lab work, including specimen collection and processing
• Clean, stock, and prepare exam rooms and instruments
• Answer patient questions and help them feel informed and at ease
• Work closely with your team to keep the clinic running smoothly

You’ll play an essential role in delivering high-quality sexual and reproductive health care while helping ensure every patient is treated with dignity and respect.

Schedule & Location

This is a part-time, on-site position (30 hours/week) at our Salem Health Center.

Monday 8:45am–4:45pm

Tuesday 11:00am–7:00pm

Thursday 8:30am–4:30pm

Friday 8:00am–4:00pm

Bilingual Spanish preferred.

You must be able to reliably work this schedule.

Occasional work at other times, days, or PPCW locations may be required to support operational needs.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in a customer service or high-volume environment

Nice to Have

• Spanish language skills
• Experience in a medical setting or working directly with patients
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)
• Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, EMT, or CNA certification

Pay & Growth

$20.37–$29.68/hour

Pay is based on experience and internal equity. Most new hires start toward the lower end of the range, with room to grow.

Additional Pay Opportunities

• Bilingual premium: +$1.72/hour
• Interpreter-level premium: +$3.44/hour
• After 6 months, you may be eligible for additional clinic responsibilities that include extra hourly pay
