Job summary

Underdog is seeking a backend engineer to architect systems enabling AI agents to securely navigate authenticated environments, transforming unstructured data into actionable intelligence at scale.

You will build infrastructure that makes enterprise data AI-accessible, collaborate with senior engineers and product teams, and work with GCP, Docker, and CI/CD to ship resilient, observable platforms powering automated data access across complex environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years backend engineering experience shipping production systems.
• Experience with REST APIs, cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure), and databases.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build resilient AI agents and automate complex logins including MFA.
• Engineer secure authentication foundations and scalable APIs.
• Design data infrastructure with GCP-based pipelines and performant PostgreSQL storage.
• Ship end-to-end systems, integrations, tests, and observability tooling.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product teams on architecture.

Your Mission

Architect core systems that allow AI agents to securely navigate authenticated environments—from dynamic web interfaces to legacy systems—transforming unstructured data into actionable intelligence at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Resilient AI Agents: Develop systems that automate complex logins (including MFA), extract unstructured data, and handle dynamic web interfaces without APIs.
• Engineer Secure Foundations: Create authentication workflows for diverse platforms and scalable APIs for enterprise-grade solutions.
• Design Data Infrastructure: Implement GCP-based data pipelines, optimize PostgreSQL performance, and ensure integrity for millions of records.
• Ship End-to-End Systems: Develop third-party integrations, testing suites, and observability tools with a focus on reliability.
• Collaborate Strategically: Work with senior engineers on system architecture and product teams to solve real customer challenges.
• Infra: GCP, Docker, GitHub Actions (CI/CD)

Who You Are

• 3+ years backend engineering experience shipping production systems.
