Job summary

Rolls‑Royce in Indianapolis, IN, is hiring a B-52 / F130 Lifecycle Engineer for a hybrid role with three office days per week. You will support in‑service products, oversee lifecycle modelling, and ensure cost‑effective, reliable performance across the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage safety issues (SAR & RT) and participate in safety boards as defined in the Safety Management Plan.
  • Provide technical support to resolve queries and operational arisings; lead investigations to establish root cause.
  • Introduce containment actions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform technical surveillance and quality assurance audits to support continuous product enhancement for customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and approve technical content of publications and communications (used by OEM, build/commissioning/maintenance bases, customers) including acceptance limit development.
  • Set reliability targets based on historical data and monitor performance against targets.
  • Predict future safety and reliability performance using statistical techniques to support Numerical Risk Assessment, Parametric Distribution, and fly‑forward analysis.
  • Identify cost‑reduction opportunities by reviewing and maintaining lifecycle engineering policies and associated maintenance planning documents.
  • Manage issues affecting Maturity, Lifecycle Cost, Reliability and Maintainability while maintaining Design Intent.
  • Provide lifecycle technical data and model/support modelling of through‑life performance, deterioration mechanisms and service attributes to create and maintain time‑on‑platform predictions, identify optimization opportunities and support generation of the Service Operation Validation Strategy.
  • Prepare and deliver technical communications (presentations and/or reports) to platform providers, regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and integrate Health Monitoring System requirements.
  • Identify requirements for new Health Monitoring System or capability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders; act as the Technical Authority on build, commissioning and maintenance activities when delegated.
  • Gather in‑service data and implement continuous improvement by identifying best practice and learning from experience, feeding back into future programs and product design teams.

Provide world‑class technical support for in‑service/delivered products, influencing product maturity throughout the life cycle to meet customer and business needs. Ensure Design Intent is met and maintain safe, reliable, cost‑effective product attributes through lifecycle modelling of reliability, deterioration mechanisms, costs and robust cost‑effective solutions.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree in Engineering, or
  • JD/PhD
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to be considered for this role.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently on a scheduled or unscheduled basis.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience and demonstrated capability in root‑cause investigation, including evidence‑based methods.
  • Experience in safety investigations (Red Tops) involving Rolls‑Royce products.
  • Experience and knowledge of the BR700‑Series product line.
  • Broad gas turbine engineering experience across functions: design, performance, validation/verification, customer application, certification/qualification, maintenance & overhaul, repair, field service.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound technical and business judgment.
  • Knowledge of component/system functionality and numerical methods.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams (e.g., specialists, suppliers, customers, partners).
